While travelling with a laptop an internet connection is very desirable. By using your Windows Mobile Phone as a bluetooth modem, you can connect easily to the internet using GPRSÂ or your regular internet service provider (providing your laptop has bluetooth as well of course). This is also known as tethering an internet connection.
This is functionality has been depreciated with Windows Mobile 5 AKU3. Please refer to its replacement, Internet Connection Sharing, for newer devices. Non-windows operating systems like Linux and Apple do not support this, so this modification might help you, but use at your own risk
Before you start configuring your Windows mobile phone as a modem, you first have to bond or pair your device with your laptop.
After this, you can start the connection wizard:

To connect to GPRS or an ISP, you have to select "Dial-up connection" in the network connection selector:
After this selection, you have to select the device. Most laptops have a build-in modem and map the dial-up service of bluetooth to a virtual com-port:
After selecting the right device, you can name the connection. You can name it whatever you want, but keep in mind you have to find it back:
The next thing to enter is the phone number of your internet provider. When you use GPRS, you generally have to enter *99# to make your phone call the GPRS connection.If you use a dialin-connection to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or your work, enter the number here. ...
