Ringmark is amobile browser test suite developed by Facebook. It has 3 suites of tests that cover what the authors believe the most important features mobile HTML5 browsers need support in order to support applications on par with native mobile apps. The test cases are organized according to application scenarios (e.g., 2D / 3D games, camera apps etc etc). You can test your own browser by loading the following URL from your mobile device:
The key take-away for me is that most leading edge mobile browsers (e.g., iOS 5 and the latest Android) are only at the level of passing of the most basic test suite. That just shows that mobile HTML5 apps still have a long way to go before they can catch up with the current generation mobile native apps. But by then, native capabilities will have further evolved. Native apps are here to stay.
