While it was a slow week for mobile, here is what happened this week…

- Ikea uses new AR mobile app to supplement it’s product catalog.
- Mobile web access has officially surpassed desktop access in China.
Apple:
- Responding to rumors that AT&T would start to charge iPhone users for access to Facetime, the company issued a statement that “It’s too early to know.”
- New iPhone 5 hardware rumors this week: Some new pictures of a center camera for the next iPhone surfaced, and the Wall Street Journal is reporting the next iPhone will have a thinner screen.
- Apple quietly released a fix for the trick that allowed free purchases on the app store.
Google:
- Google has released it’s new Android 4.1 SDK to the public.
- Google releases Android 4.1 in OTA update to Nexus S phones on various carriers.
- Samsung is going to announce it’s next Galaxy device on August 15th
- Samsung has also sold 10 million Galaxy S III, but the iPhone 5 is still the most wanted phone.
RIM:
- BlackBerry 10 shows off voice commands in a new video.
- RIM applies for a new patent to detect emotion in users.
Microsoft:
- Windows Phone owners can get software similar to Google Now with Nokia Drive 3.0
- A leaked release date for Windows Phone 8 hints at November launch.
